As our students begin the learning transition from brick-and-mortar schools to online schooling, here are some definitions that will assist parents with understanding the online learning lingo.

1. eLearning
elearning or electronic learning is the delivery of learning through digital resources such as computers, tablets etc. that are connected to the internet. This makes it easy for students to learn anytime, anywhere with minimal restrictions.

2. BYOD
Bring your own devices a term created in which students are using their own tablets, laptops, personal computers etc. as part of their learning experience.

3. Virtual Classroom:
A term that refers to the digital learning environment.

4. Asynchronous Learning:
Self-paced instructions that allows students to complete school work on their own schedules.

5. Synchronous Learning:
Real-time online learning approach that includes teacher facilitated instruction.
